Lagu Selfish ini akan menjadi single utama dalam album keenam Justin yang bertajuk Everything I Thought It Was (2024).
Selfish juga menjadi single pertama yang diluncurkan Justin setelah hampir enam tahun hiatus, yakni sejak album studio Man of the Woods dirilis pada 2018 lalu.
Pelantun lagu Mirror itu mengaku, lagu Selfish dibuat usai dirinya mengcover lagu Jealous Guy milik personil The Beatles, John Lennon.
